WIT at SEG

WIT will exhibit at the 2009 SEG conference in Houston. Please drop by and see us in booth #215. Also, please check out our CEO Morgan Brown's talk on Wednesday, entitled "Sub-salt overpressure detection before drilling using wave equation migration technologies". This presentation will begin at 10:10 am in the "RC 3: Inversion Uncertainty and Rock Properties" session.

WIT Presents at HTC Energy Investor Forum

WIT presented its business plan to nearly 100 investors at the Houston Technology Center's Energy Investor Forum on August 20. WIT has been an HTC client company since 2008. WIT's CEO Morgan Brown is visible in the photo of the presenters from the five client companies represented at the Forum.

Oscar Ramirez Hired as Manager of Data Processing Services

Oscar comes to WIT from a position as senior geophysicist for Weinman GeoScience. Oscar and Morgan Brown worked together on a variety of projects at Hess Corp. Oscar brings nearly 15 years of experience from his prior work in Louisiana, deepwater Gulf of Mexico, Williston Basin, West and East Texas, Oklahoma, the North Sea, South China Sea, Peru, Morocco and offshore Brazil. He earned Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Earth Systems from Stanford University.

Need Angles? Get the RIGHT angles with WIT Angle

WIT Angle: When Three Dimensions isn't Enough

Finally, you can combine the accuracy of wave equation migration with an efficient full-volume decomposition into incidence angle gathers or azimuth angle gathers. When the earth is complex, it is difficult to unravel incidence angle from surface offset or azimuth angle from surface azimuth. WIT Angle decomposes the image by incidence angle of azimuth angle at the reflector for maximum accuracy.

WIT Partners with ECHO Geophysical to provide WEM on Gulf Coast 3D Library

WIT and ECHO Geophysical of Denver have partnered to offer WIT's excellent WIT Depth prestack depth migration services to selected datasets from ECHO's 3D Gulf Coast data library. WEM reprocessing of two ECHO 3D datasets is planned: West George West in South Texas, and Spindletop in Southeast Texas. Stay tuned for more details of this exciting offering!

WIT Depth to be presented at Geophysical Society of Kansas

Wave Equation Simulation, Depth Imaging, and Velocity Analysis Over Shallow Salt

Modeling and depth migration techniques which use the "full" wave equation have a proven robustness to strong velocity structure, such as complex salt bodies in the Gulf of Mexico, and can in many cases out-perform Kirchhoff prestack depth migration or time migration. While Kansas is not normally viewed as a "sub-salt" play, from an imaging perspective, the salt collapse features found in many Kansas fields produce the velocity structure which makes depth migration in general, and wave equation depth migration (WEM) in particular, applicable.

In this talk we simulate and image--from variable topography--a 3D survey over a salt collapse feature, illustrating the effect of various survey geometries on the image quality. We'll present an efficient and general WEM angle decomposition scheme which enables AVA or azimuth-based prospecting in areas where time imaging fails. We'll go on to take the synthetic data through multiple iterations of depth velocity model building using an advanced WEM-based focusing scheme.

WIT Presents its Simulation and Imaging Technology

WIT will present its Simulation and Imaging technology at two venues in February. The talk, entitled "Think Before You Shoot!  Simulation and Imaging for Acquisition Scenario Testing", will be presented by Morgan Brown, President and CEO. This service allows clients to better understand the true value of additional seismic, potentially saving considerable money.
